Hi, there! My name's Joey. I was born in Indianapolis, IN, so I'm a Hoosier at heart, but I'm currently a student at New York University's Steinhardt School. I study Vocal Performance - Musical Theatre with minors in Producing and Entertainment Business.
Because I had a love for telling stories and playing pretend at a young age, my parents signed me up for a local theatre camp, and I was hooked. I made my professional debut in the fourth grade as Dill in To Kill a Mockingbird at the Indiana Repertory Theatre. Since then, I've been lucky to call several theatres home, like the IRT, Beef & Boards, and Summer Stock Stage Eclipse.
Some of my favorite roles to date have been playing Young Ed in the Indiana Repertory Theatre's And Then They Came For Me, directed by Courtney Sale, and Melchior Gabor in Spring Awakening with Eclipse.
While my future goals lie in front of the camera (and on the stage), my work behind the camera started when I was a about six years old. The endless amount of home movies on my parents' hard drives can prove it! Driven by a desire to create (and weekly lessons at the Apple Store), I began to film my friends and create silly movies for fun. (But let's face it, I usually made myself the star)
Throughout high school I continued honing my skills, creating promotional videos and advertising campaigns for local theatre groups and filming live events. But by far my favorite experience behind the camera has been working for The Caroline Symmes Endowment for Pediatric Cancer Research. Look below to see more about a video I created for them!
Cut to, today! I'm now a student in New York City, acting, directing, and filming any chance I get, and finding time to fit my school work in between.
